As a vintner involved in making wine from 7 different vineyards in Oakville, you can imagine how many times I have typed “Oakville, Ca.” into the search bar on Google Earth. Nearly every time I search, I seem to forget that there is also an Oakville in Ontario, Canada. Predictably I get a roundtrip, transcontinental flyover as I head east and then back west after amending my search to Oakville, California.

But this week something remarkably different happened: I actually flew to Toronto, Canada and drove the 45 minutes southwest to the shores of Lake Ontario, to Oakville, to conduct a wine dinner at the remarkable restaurant, Jonathans.

Chef's Challenge for a Cure PDF Print E-mail

On Saturday, November 20th, Jonathan's Executive Chef, Michael Spudowski, participated in the "Chef's Challenge for a Cure" event.

The exclusive culinary fundraising event featured Gordon Ramsay and teams of five of Canada's top celebrity chefs.   The event was a phenomenal success raising over $1m -- this funding will support the work of Mount Sinai's scientists, in hopes of discovering innovative approaches to prevent, diagnose and treat breast and ovarian cancers.

On Sunday, November 21st, Spudowski and Jonathans Restaurant owner, Jason Alikakos, attended a private brunch with Gordon Ramsay and other celebrity chefs.
