Whether you’re visiting the area for the first time or you’re a local, there are plenty of things to do in Oakville. This town is located on the shores of Lake Ontario between Toronto and Hamilton. The town is part of the Greater Toronto Area, the most densely populated region in Canada. In the 2021 census, the population of Oakville was 213,759.

The Royal Botanical Gardens

Located in Burlington, Ontario, the Royal Botanical Gardens is the largest botanical garden in Canada. Its mission is to connect people with plants and wetlands. Its botanical collections and gardens span over 2700 acres of protected land. It is recognized as a World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. It is also the National Historic Site of Canada.

The Royal Botanical Gardens is an ecological jewel situated at the western tip of Lake Ontario. It is a place where millions of nature-starved urban citizens can reconnect with nature and learn about plant life. In 2016, it will be celebrating its 80th anniversary. It is a major tourist attraction. There are five areas to explore in the gardens, each with its own unique features.

The Rock Garden features vibrant perennials, water displays, and historic limestone steps. It also embraces sustainable design.

Art in the Park

Presented by the Oakville Art Society, Art in the Park is a one day art show highlighting over 175 local artists and a host of activities. The main attraction is an immersive art experience. The art show features local artisans as well as international exhibitors from across the country. The event is free to the public. The show also has a well curated educational program.

The Oakville Art Society is an independent, self-supporting arts organization of local artists. The organization’s main purpose is to create interest in and support for the arts in the community. They were approached by the Town of Oakville to become involved in the Queen Elizabeth Park Community Centre. The OAS has since grown into a well rounded art organization that sponsors local art shows and exhibitions as well as a host of other arts and cultural activities.

TD Songs of Summer Festival

TD Songs of Summer will replace the TD Downtown Oakville Jazz Festival as the city’s premier music and arts festival. The new event, which takes place on August 10, will be free to attend and features a number of notable musical acts from across Canada. The music festival will also have a few notable visual arts offerings. The TD Songs of Summer Festival is a must-attend event for music buffs and cultural enthusiasts alike.

The TD Songs of Summer Festival will also be a good time for foodies and shoppers alike, as it takes place along the historic Towne Square and other downtown Oakville neighborhoods. This year’s TD Songs of Summer will also be the first in Oakville to host the prestigious TD Summer Series, a free community event that runs every Saturday in July and August.

Dorval Crossing

Located on Dorval Drive, Dorval Crossing is a shopping centre that has it all. There are two shopping plazas that are home to over 30 stores. The centre also has an on-site Mini Golf course, as well as a Canadian Open viewing lounge. Other attractions include a virtual golf simulator and several food trucks. The centre also offers family prize packs and a par-tee competition. Among the stores in the complex are Winners, Macy’s, Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus. The center is also home to several other shops, including a CoCo Fresh Tea & Juice and Chatime.

In the past few months, the center has seen the opening of several new shops, including the newly opened Richmond Hill location. The centre also offers family prize packs, a par-tee competition, as well as a Virtual Golf simulator.

Canada Day celebrations

The Joseph Brant Museum will be hosting a Canada Day event on July 1. This event will feature a wide range of activities including live music, food trucks, museum tours, and family friendly activities. In addition, the museum will also feature a beer tasting.

The Aga Khan Museum will also be hosting a Canada Day celebration on July 1. The museum will feature free family crafts and museum tours. In addition, the museum will also have a marketplace. The market will include food trucks, midway rides, and live music.
